Eckhart Tolle in his new book A NEW EARTH says:
…look upon flowers as the enlightenment of plants.Any life-form in any realm – mineral, vegetable, animal or human – can be said to undergo “enlightenment.” It is, however, an extremely rare occurrence since it is more than an evolutionary progression: It implies a discontinuity in its development, a leap to an entirely different level of Being and, most important, a lessening of materiality.
Since time immemorial, flowers, crystals, precious stones, and birds have held special significance for the human spirit … attributed to their ethereal quality.
I simply relate to these words blissfully. I am like ‘wow’! This is it how I feel about my life.
I think this kind of discontinuity is what happened to be when I had an episode of manic depression and subsequently learning to cope with my bipolar disorder over the last 2 to 3 years!
To me, it meant a leap towards being a different person, living life in a different way!
The book seems like a lucid spiritual writing and I think its going to be a good one.

I guess it’s not so much about becoming a “different person”, as it is about becoming and/or recognizing who you were all along.
For me it began by recognizing the false as false, and as the layers of identification with form, ideas, beliefs, etc. began to fall away, the real “Me” made itself known – spontaneously and without effort.
Being who you are is spontaneous and natural — trying to be something you are not takes alot of labor, and you continuously have to labor at it to keep the illusion alive.
