Moving on

Tired of the rough ride,
Feeling cold and completely lost;
On a chilly night,
I landed on a moonlit beach.

Heated by the engine
My Foot relaxed and heartbeat slowed;
As I walked over the sand
towards the ocean of Love.

Finding Peace and feeling calm,
Mesmerized with the Polka dot;
I picked up a marble
as the night got cold.

zzssh!! My palm sizzled
swish!! came the waves
Pooff!! I let go and
Plunk!! the stone fell down

Pain ruled my mind
as the stone rolled away.
Feeling uneasy I
returned soon to the bike.

To the warm Beach
My mind went back and forth;
Zipped my Jacket for warmth
I searched for peace within.

Soon it was morn again
Pushing limits beyond;
Refreshed, ready I was
To explore the unknown again!

Doing what I love

Well, the dream search of doing what I love is on and this break (yeah I have been chilling for the past 50 days!) made me go through a soul searching process and here is what I am by default excited about or I would love to do when I am at work:

  • Design Things (I love the entire design process and the icing on the cake would be mixing technology and art together)
  • New experiences and thence learning
  • Helping People directly &
  • Emotional Story Telling

I would like to do the above so that it leads to change or impact and enables wealth creation :-) I would love to do that with a great bunch of people in a lovely environment. I think if I am actually doing this work will no longer remain work. ;-)

My Mantra at a Job is Work, People, Learn and Play. Whats yours? I will follow this up with my learnings of working at different places. If you have already given some thought about this for yourself then the post: Finding the work you love at Zen Habits might be helpful.

Volunteer trip to Nagaland

Ghani Zaman one of my flickr contacts is deeply involved with the North East India Project. He sent me an volunteer trip itinerary last year and has sent me one this year too. I couldn’t take it last year due to lack of time and this I am afraid I will not be able to join as I am on break entire this month and last (July and Aug). If all the stars, matched I would have definitely gone (I may still go though!).

I am blogging this just in case anyone of you would like to explore and take time off to fully understand atleast Nagaland (Northeast India). What better way than spend some time in a village (Yimjenkimong Village) and help in various projects like:

  • Low cost Housing / Building.
  • Health Education
  • Water Resource Management
  • Scholastic Education
  • Computer Training
  • Commerce and Eco-Tourism
This trip would be phase 2. (Phase one details) More details regarding the volunteer trip are available on the website. I asked Ghani for a more detailed trip description and this is what he mailed in:
  1. Arrive at Kolkata on 30th Nov 2008 morning. Take plane, afternoon flight or train.
  2. Train leaves at 3PM from Howrah from Kolkata to Guwahati. Train – Saraighat Express. Arrival time 9AM Train cost approx Rs.2100 AC 3tier. Plane difficult to say at the moment till prices stable.
  3. At Guwahati meet the team at the Rly station to travel on the overnight Intercity train up to Amguri in Assam.
  4. At Amguri the team hires vehicles to go into Nagaland via Tuli. Amguri to Tuli is approx 25 kms. Vehicle cost to be shared by passangers- Rs.2000 + by 3 passangers. From Tuli it is a very rough up hill drive for a couple of hours.
  5. At the village you will be allocated a home to stay @Rs. 600/ per day for food and lodging. We are going to stay for 10 days helping in the construction of a community centre and other activities as mentioned in the announcement earlier.
  6. We all leave on 10th Dec. back to our on places.
For more details do feel free to contact Ghani Zaman ( ghanizaman _at_ gmail . com ) So, Guys if you want to take a vacation – I think this would be an ideal one :-) . Any sponsors for me ;-)
