is it time to … quit …?

Change is something everybody thinks of. I used to have this quote in my signature file sometime back “The only constant in your life is change” So, this morning in Mumbai Mirror (a declared version of the Times Tabloid), when I read the article   ‘Is it time to quit ? (ur j.o.b)‘ I thought I should make a note of it right away. The points the writer higlightes are:

  • Its not always about money!
    • Its more than paycheck. Factors like oppurtunities for advancement, recognition, less stress. corporate values and culture. goo working conditions and employee empowerment, Fair rewards – JOB satisfaction
  • Do you enjoy going to work?
    • Good working condition, team enviroment and duties will make it more fun to go to work. Feeling inspired and energised by your boss and company’s leardership
  • Are you being reasonable?
    • you need to work your way up the corporate ladder
    • examine your job and attitude
    • Stop being negative and quit hanging with whiners … else you will get sucked into spiral of negativity
  • Is your work stimulating?
    • if you don’t feel  you are making a difference – expand your roles and responsibilities
    • look at the things you enjoy about your work and offer to take on additional duties to increase you sense of purpose
  • Do you  feel respected and valued?
    • coprate culture – management listens and celebrating success
    • are new ideas and suggestions incorporated?
    • too much unpaid overtime, with noo thans and no end in sight is discouraging
  • Is your integrity intact?
    • Are you proud of where you work and what you do? Are your values aligned!
  • Does your job fit your plan?
  • Be open to change.
