The news article on Google code blog: “Announcing Tesseract OCR” {a free opensource OCR software) lead me to search more about it. I am yet to try it. If anyone has tried it do let me know :-). I would be really interested in using it with mobile phones to makes notes, get addresses etc … more on the lines of scanR

Then I happened to find – Sketchup (sounds like Ketchup uh! 😉 ) by Google. Seems like they have bought the company (my premonition). Being interested in Design + being a Mechanical Engineer, I am piqued to learn more about modelling software especially by google. I have just downloaded it. But thought will share on my blog.

The software is being used along with Google earth. There is a $495 version also! Let me put my reviews in later. But looking at the community its gathering I think its going to give Solidworks and other CAD softwares a run for their money!

I found a blog – very interesting one making use of it called ‘RopesandPoles
This post in particular gives detailed instructions … quick lashings

and just for design / enginerring stuff this post of using rubber bands to clip two dowels in a way very cool. Showing pics from the site directly …
